George Seremba
George Seremba graduated from Makerere University, Kampala, with an Honours Degree in English Literature. He was forced to leave Uganda in 1980, having barely survived a botched execution at the hands of Milton Obote’s "G" branch, or military Intelligence. Seremba moved to neighbouring Kenya, where he spent hisearly years of exile. His writing and acting career started at Makerere. It was in Kenya that he came into his own as a performer and a writer. Seremba wrote a number of poems and directed several plays – including three one-act plays – that he wrote for his students at Kilungu Day High School. His first full-length play was titled, The Grave Will Decide. It was written in Winnipeg during his first year in Canada. Since then, Seremba has worked as an actor and a playwright; appearing in various productions across Canada, the United States and elsewhere; winning a lot of accolades along the way for his writing and performances. His most well-known play, Come Good Rain, has received several award nominations.
