Oscar Vigil
Oscar Vigil has spent more than 15 years working as a journalist, both in his native El Salvador, in Ecuador and in Canada, where he arrived as a refugee in 2001. He is currently editor-in-chief of Página Uno newspaper in Toronto. Previously, he served in as vice-managing editor of the Spanish-language El Correo Canadiense daily. During his work as director of the radio station La Tribu in Chalatenango, El Salvador, Vigil received numerous threats against his life because of the station’s reporting and progressive leanings. In order to ensure his safety and that of his family, Vigil chose to leave for Canada with his wife and children.
